CUDDINGTON will be rewarded for their improvement on the pitch this year with a place in a higher division in the Cheshire League next season.

Gareth Harwood’s men, fourth in League Two, are slated to fill a vacancy created by the resignation of Halebank in a provisional line-up for the 2019-2020 campaign.

Member clubs meet on Thursday to approve a constitution unveiled by league chairman Rob Goodwin-Davey last weekend.

If they do then the Northwich club, who transferred from the Crewe and District League as champions in 2014, will play at the highest level in their history from August.

However to comply with ground rules they must host opponents on an artificial pitch five miles away Winsford Academy because the changing rooms at their Norley Road home are too small.

Lostock Gralam return to the Premier Division, following their promotion as League One title-winners, after six years away.

That means they can renew a rivalry with Middlewich Town that includes a 2-1 victory in the Mid-Cheshire District FA Saturday Challenge Cup final as its latest installment.

The Grey Lambs have also applied for a reserve team to rejoin the league.

That means Winnington Avenue 1994, sixth in League Two at the end of their debut campaign, will play home games on the 3G pitch at Moss Farm after a single season as tenants at Park Stadium.

Meanwhile work upgrading the facilities has started at Jubilee Field, and they hope to return there later this year.

Hartford, an established outfit with more than a dozen age-group teams for boys and girls and junior level, are one of five clubs to have had an application accepted to join the Cheshire League.

Following a successful interview, they now hope rival clubs will vote in favour of them taking a place in League Two.
