A DERBY date between Winsford rivals Wharton Cons A and Meadowbank A will be among the highlights when this season’s Littler Cup resumes on Sunday.
The men from the Tin Mission were comfortable victors in a Premier Division fixture a fortnight ago but a draw for the last 16 provides an early opportunity for their neighbours to avenge that defeat.
They meet at Winsford Cons.
Owley Wood A, conquerors of holder Castle C by a narrow four-chalk margin on aggregate last time out, have been paired with Comberbach A.
The top-flight side have already dispatched an opponent from Section One in the form of Tarporley A.
There are two teams from Section Four, the Mid-Cheshire Bowling Association’s fifth tier, still in the running.
Winnington B take on Rudheath B at Hartford while Rudheath D have Castle B blocking a path to the quarter-finals.
The latter have already had a close call when they edged out lower-ranked Lostock Graylams by three chalks at the previous stage.
Middlewich Community Church, buoyed by eliminating Castle A by just two points after a thrilling encounter, hope to make further progress when they clash with Comberbach C.
Frodsham Red Lion A will be wary of a threat posed by Crosstown A, who were a foe in the Premier Division last summer, when they go head-to-head at Castle.
The Knutsford outfit squeezed through by five chalks at the expense of Wharton Rec A in the first round.
Play is scheduled to start at all venues from 2pm.
