Mossley Hill 3rd 1-4 Winnington Park 3rd

FREDDIE Long capped an impressive debut with two goals last weekend when Winnington Park’s thirds took another step towards promotion.

They occupy second spot in the North West Men’s League’s Division Seven South West, eight points clear of Neston’s sixths who they face on Saturday.

Long’s opener set them on a course for victory at Mossley Hill, but they had to withstand a period of pressure while protecting their lead before the interval.

John Crouchley’s goal early in the second-half sparked a flurry of goals with Ben Rigby and Long, again, also on target before the hosts notched a consolation.

Winnington Park 4th 3-3 Wrexham Glyndwr 2nd

LIAM McKee scored first during an entertaining encounter in Northwich that ended with honours even after Winnington Park’s thirds and Wrexham’s seconds shared six goals.

The visitors recovered to lead 2-1 by the break before their hosts regrouped and restored parity through Nathan Gee.

A fine solo effort from man-of-the-match Mark Scarisbrick, who dribbled from the halfway-line, then put the home team in front at Sir John Deane’s College.

However Wrexham piled on the pressure and scored a deserved equaliser following a series of short-corners.
