AFTER excelling indoors the previous weekend, Northwich Rowing Club members proved they haven’t forgotten how to win on the water.

A tally of boat-class wins had reached 10 by late-afternoon at the Head of the Mersey in Warrington on Sunday.

Aaron Benyon and Jack Millington formed an under 16s boys’ double that took first prize before they returned later to prevail in a quad with James Ryder and Finn Gamble.

Olivia Dunnett and Molly Garlick demonstrated their versatility to claim two victories.

They were part of a women’s quad with Fran Campbell and Amber Sperring-Toy that completed two legs of an 1,800m course faster than rivals from Trentham Boat Club.

A switch to a women’s coxed four with Isabel Ennis, Caitlin Wynne and cox Isabella Garlick produced the same result.

A Northwich crew was the only one to break seven minutes in the under 16s girls’ quad sculls with Maisy Jardine, Amelia Roberts, Anna Carnell and Sophie Garlick on board.

The list of junior wins was completed by Great Britain international Ellie Cushen in a composite under 18s girls’ double with Warrington’s Ella Stanhope.

They reached the finish in 15:18.8.

The club’s seniors also braved the elements and celebrated success in four categories.

That included one of the first crews down the course in the morning session with Simon Tomlinson, Chris Rhodes-Bell, William Galloway, Lewis Garner and cox Andrew Morrison taking the open coxed four honours ahead of rivals Liverpool John Moores Boat Club.

Claire Irons was a comfortable victor in a women’s masters novice single while Alice Worden, a double national indoor champion, and Oliver White were the fastest combination in a mixed double.

Northwich’s roll of honour was completed by a novice women’s coxed quad of Helen Wrigley, Kerry Coe, Clare Hargreaves, Jane Davies and cox Iona Mitchell.
