BARNTON Wanderers' hopes of retaining a Crewe and District League title that they claimed for the first time last season took another hit on Saturday.
They lost 3-2 at home to Madeley White Star, who return to the Premier Division table's summit after extending a winning sequence to eight matches.
The champions sit seventh, 12 points adrift of top spot.
Over 3 Grange continued their improvement by beating Winnington, making it back-to-back victories.
Zak Finnigan, Bradley Stockton, Mike Warburton and substitute Darren Fox were on target as they prevailed 4-1.
Meanwhile Winsford Saxons progressed in the Crewe and District FA Cup at the expense of MMU Cheshire after Kane Ode, Elliot Booth and James Cain scored in a 3-1 win.
