CARL Macauley has shared his frustration after Witton Albion again failed to score during a period of dominance when they met Bamber Bridge last weekend.

He told the Guardian signing an attacking player is a priority and he hoped to bring in at least one before Saturday’s trip to Marine.

“We’ve identified targets,” he said.

“The truth is we’ve never stopped looking and we know we need to strengthen in that area.”

“But it’s tough, particularly when money is tight.”

A seven-day notice of approach for an in-form striker at a North West Counties League club expired on Sunday and Albion hope to complete the transfer before kick-off tomorrow.

Meanwhile Macauley revealed that he has also agreed terms with a midfielder this week.

He cut a frustrated figure following Albion’s 2-2 draw with Brig, who pinched a point after former Northwich Victoria defender Kieran Charnock claimed an injury-time leveller.

His side had rallied to take the lead, scoring twice in as many minutes, in reply to Alistair Waddecar’s opener for the visitors.

“We need to be better,” he added.

“I don’t think I’m being harsh; we just weren’t at the level I want to see, although I can’t fault the lads’ character to get back into the game.”

A lengthening injury list isn't helping.

Cesaire (groin) and Delial Brewster (ankle) are doubts to feature at Marine, while Danny McKenna (ankle) will be ruled out for for the next few weeks after sustaining minor ligament damage during last Saturday's game.

Macauley does though plan to call on leading goal-scorer James Foley and striker Will Jones against their former club after they responded to treatment on ankle and neck injuries respectively.

“This is when having a small squad makes life difficult, particularly with games coming up thick and fast,” added the manager.
