Winnington Park 0-3 Lymm

AFTER halting a six-game losing run last weekend, Winnington Park could not follow one victory with another.

Lymm took control after breaking through at Sir John Deane’s College, where they went on to win 3-0.

MATTHEW Howard scored a consolation goal for Winnington Park’s seconds when they lost 3-1 at Chester, who extend an unbeaten run to three matches.

It leaves the Northwich side seventh in the North West Men's League's Division Four South at the turn of the year.

A PATIENT approach by Winnington Park’s thirds earned a reward when they edged out their clubmates in a close-fought derby.

There was little between the teams during a goalless first-half and a breakthrough arrived after the interval when Ben Rigby pushed the ball under goalkeeper Elis Wilson following a goalmouth scramble.

Park’s thirds made safe maximum points when man-of-the-match Tom Howard applied the finishing touch to a counter-attack after a youthful fourth team – for whom Matt Morley was chosen afterwards as the best performer – had pushed players forward in search of an equaliser.
