YOUNGER members of Warrington's Vida Badminton Club enjoyed a highly successful opening day of the Manchester Junior League.

With age groups being slightly realigned for this year – Vida's sixth competing in the competition – older age groups were represented by students in school years 10 and 11.

Vida only entered one older team, but entered three teams for students in Year Nine or younger.

Both Year Nine Open divisions are topped by teams from the Orford Jubilee-based club, with Vida A dropping just one set over three matches to lead Division One.

They beat JCBO, Rochdale and Colne, scoring 265 points in the process.

In Division Two, Vida B did even better as they won all three games without conceding a set as they beat Forrest, Heywood and Vida C.

As well as losing to their club mates, Vida C were also beaten by Forrest but triumphed over Heywood to sit third in the table.

In the Year 11 Open competition, Vida’s only representatives sit second in Division One.

They beat Oldham and Whitworth but lost out to Colne, who lead the division.
