CHESHIRE Stars A continued their pursuit of leaders Blaze in the Everybody Netball League’s Championship Division by recording another victory.
The Middlewich side were boosted by Alison Parry filling in admirably while defensive solidity from Chloe Swansbury earned for her the player-of-the-match nomination following a 34-29 win against NVG Swifts.
Luck deserted Stars T during a top-flight encounter with Ladyhawks G when they lost two players to injury and completed the game with only six on duty.
Em Coop’s court coverage made her the outstanding performer in a 60-19 reverse.
Stars S went unrewarded for a stirring final-quarter fight-back against AIM in another Premier Division fixture.
Their rally arrived too late to avoid a 34-28 defeat on a night when they welcomed Alisan Barrett-Cliffe back to action.
Abby Hilldrup, stepping up from Stars A, was chosen as their best player.
Stars R lead the way in Division One following a 26-18 victory against Pythons.
They were grateful to Rebecca Males, who played at goal-shooter in the absence of regular Cath Law, and she did not let them down.
Captain Diane Gentle demonstrated her commitment by continuing to play despite dislocating a finger, a feat recognised afterwards when she was nominated as the victors’ star turn.
