Winnington Park 2-1 Bebington

WINNINGTON Park climbed from the bottom of the table last weekend as a reward for ending a six-match losing sequence.

They took the lead against Bebington in the moments before half-time when Danny Hancock met Mike Dodd’s cross after Paul Lancaster and Tom Hughes had started a move in midfield.

There was little to choose between the rivals after the interval and their best chance to score was from a penalty-corner.

Instead Dodd doubled the home team’s advantage with time running out when he unleashed a thunderous strike the goalkeeper had no chance of stopping.

Bebington replied straightaway when they converted following a rehearsed penalty-corner routine and youngster Robin Ayress denied them a second goal with a decisive interception when they won another late on.

Alderley Edge 4th 2-2 Winnington Park 2nd

JAMES Egerton scored an equaliser for Winnington Park’s seconds to earn for them a share of the spoils following a draw with Alderley Edge fourths.

They were grateful to goalkeeper Sam Robbins too after he made a save during the closing stages to prevent the home team pinching the points.

Park had fallen behind when an attacker was first to a rebound after Robbins had blocked.

Richard Taig dispatched a powerful strike to level after Danny Hilton teed him up from a short corner, only for the hosts to edge ahead again in the second-half.

Winnington Park 3rd 1-1 Bebington 3rd

A RUN of victories for Winnington Park's third team ended at six after they were held by their Bebington counterparts.

Ryan Crouchley put the Northwich side in front before the break and they were unlucky not to double their advantage when Liam McKee's attempt struck the inside of an upright.

The visitors rallied in the second-half when they equalised and neither side could score a decisive goal.

Rob Doel's efforts in defence earned for him the player-of-the-match prize.

Runcorn 2nd 9-4 Winnington Park 4th

WINNINGTON Park's fourths attempted to keep pace with free-scoring rivals during their latest encounter.

Runcorn established a 2-0 lead before Declan Lamb pulled a goal back and Nathan Gee was next to find the net after the visitors had gone 3-1 down.

The home team replied with a fourth only for David Elliott's first strike of the campaign to make it 4-3 at the interval.

And the pattern didn't deviate in the second-half when Mark Scarisbrick made it 6-4 after Runcorn had scored twice in quick succession.

Their power in attack proved too much though and they moved clear during the closing stages to prevail.
