Why should I watch..?

To see if history does repeat and Northwich Victoria can brush aside Runcorn for the second time in six days.

A 3-1 success in the Macron Cup last weekend was perhaps more emphatic than the result suggests, and Vics manager Steve Wilkes rated it afterwards as the most complete performance by his side this season.

Their commitments in knockout competitions over the past fortnight mean they haven’t played a North West Counties League fixture since losing against high-flying Congleton Town at Wincham Park last month.

Runcorn make the short trip conscious that they have lost their past two Premier Division matches – both of them at home – and will keen not to fall further behind those above them in the table.

What they’ve said

“I was very happy with how we played [against Runcorn] last weekend; we were the better side and I felt we caused them problems all over the park.

“Our front three ran them ragged and we were comfortable winners in the end. If anything we should have scored more goals.”

Steve Wilkes, Northwich Victoria manager

Man to keep an eye on…

Rob Doran

The attacker has produced his best form for Vics in recent weeks, forming part of an impressive attacking trident with Joel Brownhill and Brian Matthews.

Was on target in last weekend’s 3-1 win against Runcorn, and had a breather for a Cheshire FA Senior Cup head-to-head with Tranmere on Wednesday.

He’ll be raring to go.

Vics team news

John Connolly remains out of action with an injury, while Steve Wilkes reports that Antony Shinks has left the club.
