THERE were mixed fortunes for mid Cheshire teams when this season's Crewe and District FA Cup kicked off on Saturday.
Over 3 Grange edged out Sandbach Curshaws, their hosts, by the odd goal in seven to reach the next round.
However Barnton Wanderers found out their hosts Alsager Town reserves were too good for them, falling to a 6-0 defeat.
Winsford Saxons were gifted a bye when Witton Albion's Development team conceded their scheduled encounter, while Winnington Avenue 1994 must wait to have a crack at Nantwich Town after their meeting was postponed until next month.
In the Crewe and District League, Clock Tower recorded only their second win of the campaign in the Premier Division when they recorded a 3-1 success against Tarporley Victoria.
