WINSFORD Saxons suffered a first defeat of the season in the Crewe and District League when they hosted fellow fast-starters Madeley White Star on Saturday.

A 3-1 victory for the visitors to Knights Grange, where Macauley Baddeley and Kieran Brown - twice - were on target, is their fourth in succession.

Over 3 Grange prepared for a trip to higher-ranked opponents in the Cheshire FA Amateur Cup next weekend by collecting maximum points from their meeting with Mary Dendy.

Mason Farrell and Ben Palfreyman scored in a 2-0 win.

There were defeats elsewhere for Clock Tower, who lost 3-0 at Sandbach Curshaws, and Winnington Avenue who shipped seven goals at home to Sandbach Town.

Tom Butler hit five at Jubilee Field for the away side.
