WINSFORD United came from behind on Monday to secure victory over Northwich Victoria, their first scalps in the Hallmark Security North West Counties League Premier Division this season.

David Short (penalty, 16), Samuel Marshall (53) and Peter Watling (90+3) put Blues in the ascendancy.

Brian Matthews, who had put Vics in front after 12 minutes, also bagged a second five minutes into stoppage time.

Blues' confidence levels will have risen for their visit to league leaders City of Liverpool on Saturday.

They will then host Irlam on Monday, kick-off 7.45pm.
