MIDDLEWICH’S heroes will be remembered when the town turns back the clock for its Wartime Weekend.

Those who made huge sacrifices to fight for our freedom and others who stayed behind to keep the war effort going will be honoured at the family festival between September 21 and 23.

Middlewich resident Dave Roberts will be loaning three films for the weekend including a homemade video of the town in the 1930s and documentaries about the 1937 agricultural show and the King George VI Coronation.

Kerry Fletcher, heritage officer, said: “We’ve had a fantastic response to our wartime exhibitions and we’re very grateful to the community for coming forward with information, wartime memories and family mementos.

“It has been made all the more special because of your efforts.”

‘Blitz and Peaces’ will be joined on Saturday by singer ‘Katie Spitfire’ plus there will be an array of brass bands at the Bull Ring and on Market Field each day.
