CONSTRUCTION work has started on a Morrisons supermarket in Middlewich - but the grand opening has been pushed back until the New Year.
The supermarket which is being built in Newton Bank, creating 150 jobs, was due to open at Christmas but is now scheduled to open in early January 2013.
Booseys garden centre has been demolished as part of the scheme and Middlewich Autos has moved to Brooks Lane industrial estate.
John Radcliffe, of Radcliffe Developments, said: “Things have taken longer than anticipated to get together.
“The tendering process took a little longer and Middlewich Autos took longer to vacate than originally thought.”
Contractor Wilmott Dixon began building work on July 20.
John added: “We’re delighted with how it’s all coming together. The people of Middlewich will get what they want - a new supermarket.”
