VION Food UK has today announced the proposal to sell its meat processing operation at Winsford.
The site, in Bostock Road, will be sold to Cheshire to Farmers Boy Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Wm Morrison Supermarkets plc.
Under the agreement, all VION employees at the site will transfer to the new owner.
A statement from VION read: “VION has extensive secondary processing and packing operations across the UK and production at the site will transfer to other VION UK facilities.
“This will deliver enhanced operational efficiencies, and will ensure that VION’s packing resources are better aligned to current and anticipated market demand.
“Importantly, Wm Morrison Supermarkets plc is a respected and highly successful company, and the proposed sale will provide for continuity and job security for the Winsford workforce”
The transfer is expected to be completed by the end of March.
