A PENKETH mum-of-two is hoping to track down a dog owner after his pitbull attacked her 20-month-old pooch.

Jasper the miniature schnauzer was grabbed by the throat and left with an infection in the puncture wound due to bacteria in the offending dog’s mouth.

Owner Sam Halliday is concerned that other dogs or a child could be attacked by the pet after vets warned her it is unlikely to be an isolated incident.

The 37-year-old said: “I was screaming hysterically because I thought he was going to kill Jasper.

“We both came round the corner at the same time and he started throwing Jasper around.

“The owner hoisted the dog into the air and was hitting it trying to make it drop Jasper.”

Police have tried to find the owner but CCTV footage from nearby Anmol takeaway, on Warrington Road, had already been erased.

The owner is decribed as aged 25 to 30, slim build and dark brown hair.

The pitbull was chocolate brown, stocky and had a wide head and jaw.

Sam added: “The police have been brilliant but haven’t got much to go on.

“I think it was a pitbull but don’t know for certain and it must live along Clifford Road as that’s the direction he was heading from the takeaway.

“The owner was apologetic but then a motorist was passing by and said the dog should have a muzzle and he started swearing.”

The attack left Sam with a £600 vet bill and a nervous and stressed pet.
