NORTHWICH Air Cadets has welcomed 12 fully-fledged members to its squadron.

The newly qualified dozen from 146 Northwich Air Cadets graduated from an 18-week first class training course to enjoy a celebration of their achievement.

Northwich Air Cadets takes two entries of new cadets each year, in spring and autumn.

Cadets are taught technical subjects, such as aviation, navigation, first aid and field craft.

They can take part in the Duke Of Edinburgh Award, earn BTECs in aviation studies and public services and go on camps in the UK and abroad.

After completing their training course, the members of 46 entry were treated to a meal and passing-out parade, where they were welcomed as fully-fledged members of the squadron.

Wing Commander Phil Spencer, officer commanding of aerosystems training wing at RAF Cosford, was the reviewing officer for the parade.

He said: β€œIt was great to see so many young people involved in such a worthwhile organisation.

β€œI was very impressed with their commitment, standard and appearance.”

Northwich Air Cadets is one of the largest air cadet units in the UK.

The next training course for new cadets starts on Tuesday, September 21, at 7.15pm, at Northwich Cadet Centre, in Darwin Street.

Boys and girls aged 13 years and six months and over are all welcome.
