GREENALLS continue to lead the way in Cheshire League Division One despite dropping their first points of the season on Saturday, writes Rob Wood.

The Warrington outfit were held at home by newcomers Tarporley Victoria, allowing closest challengers Lostock Gralam to cut their lead to two points following their win at Linotype.

Knutsford, in third place, proved too strong for Garswood and Billinge stay close to the top teams too after beating Styal.

The other winners on the day were Gamesley, who beat Rylands, while Pilkington shared the spoils with last season’s runners-up Northwich Villa.

Champions Club AZ called off their scheduled clash with Middlewich Town because their pitch was waterlogged.

Division Two table-toppers Denton Town maintain the competition’s only perfect record after scoring a fifth successive win, this time at the expense of Monk.

Grappenhall Sports lead the chasing pack after putting six goals past struggling Maine Road reserves at Stockton Lane.

League new boys Rudheath Social sit in third place after a derby win at Barnton.

Elsewhere Congleton Town edged a seven-oals thriller against Moore United, while Whitchurch Alport and Daten took maximum points against Runcorn Town reserves and Malpas respectively.

Crewe FC shared six goals with Poynton.
