CHESHIRE Safer Roads Partnership (SRP) will continue to operate despite cuts to its funding.
Cheshire West and Chester Council (CWAC) recently announced an immediate cut to the national road safety budget for the current year, which will see the SRP’s budget reduced by 27 per cent.
Lee Murphy, SRP manager, said: “All fixed and mobile safety cameras will continue to operate across Cheshire.
“They will not be removed or switched off.
“Adapting to the financial situation, we will review and evaluate all aspects of our road safety strategy, but we will still strive to reduce the number of people killed or seriously injured on our roads.”
Since the partnership formed in 2003, the figures have shown a decrease in the number of people killed or seriously injured in total by 22 per cent.
