LOSTOCK’S fifth team need to win five of the seven sets in their final qualifier to earn their place in the Mid-Cheshire League’s Division Two at the expense of newcomers Rumours.
Wharton 2nds, penultimate-bottom in Qualifying Group Two, now stand in their way.
Elsewhere the rest of the line-up for the league’s new-look three division set-up has already been decided with reigning champions Club Mid Cheshire emerging from the qualifiers as the top tier’s only unbeaten team.
The competition proper starts in a fortnight.
Meanwhile Lostock’s second and third teams overcome Wharton 2nds and Rumours respectively in the preliminary round of the Mike Johns Memorial Handicap Team Knockout Trophy this week.
Their reward is a place in the first round, which got underway on Monday.
