THE Nantwich Singers’ Christmas concert will take place at St Mary’s Church on Saturday, December 12 from 7.30pm.

Entitled A Spotless Rose, one of the honorific titles given to the Virgin Mary in medieval times, the programme will include music from the 16th century to the present day.

Highlights of the concert will include Vaughan Williams’ Fantasia on Christmas Carols with organist Simon Russell and cellist Diane Tice.

There will also be carols by three composers with whose work the choir is particularly associated - William Byrd, Herbert Howells and the contemporary composer John Tavener.

The latters Mother And Child will feature not only the might of St Mary’s organ but also calls for a Hindu temple gong.

Tickets are £8 and include a glass of wine. The concert is free to under-18s.

Tickets are available from St Mary’s Church shop on 01270 624209 or at the door on the night.
