SOME four Crewe authors are set for a double book launch on Friday November 27.

They have also issued an open invitation to anyone interested in publishing a title of their own.

Mark Potts, Tony Marks and Howard Curran will unveil From Crewe to the Cape, a stunning insight into the role of the Railway Volunteer Corps who fought in the Boer War at the end of the nineteenth century.

Jules Hornbrook will be on hand to discuss his fascinating collection of stories entitled Crewe and its People.

In this book some 40 lives are explored, where all aspects of Crewe life is covered through tales and photos from people who have lived, worked and played in the town.

The longer term aim of the quartet is to encourage more local authors to step forward, as Mark Potts explained: “Most people have a story in them, but often believe that publishing a book will be too difficult.

"Whether it's writing, photography, editing and laying out the pages, or even dealing with a printer we will be happy to guide potential authors through the process.”

The new books will also benefit the local community. Jules Hornbrook said: “Whether it's through council offices, Wulvern Housing or Crewe schools, any books sold through these outlets will mean funds raised for charities and organisations nominated by them.

"The projects are about Crewe people and it will be great to see some of the cover price supporting the fantastic charitable work done around the town.”

The launch event will take place at Hops Café Bar opposite Christ Church, between 1pm and 7pm on Friday November 27.

Everyone is welcome to drop in at any time across the afternoon to meet the authors, buy the books, chat about the projects or discuss how to self publish.
