Local actors presented a lively evening of short one-act monologues at Birkenhead's Little Theatre, all of which had been created by Wirral-based writers.

The diverse program included comical poetry, social commentary, and insightful fiction which had appeal to a broad range of tastes.

Angela Keeler, who has been treading the boards for seventeen years, performed one of my series of short tales about the Caldy fae, The Faerie Tree. If you had been expecting to hear about tiny fairies in glittery tutus you would have been swiftly re-educated! My faeries - note the deliberate differences in spelling - are based on ancient Celtic folklore, which describes the fae in a very different light.

The evening was pronounced a success by its organiser, Jenny Humphreys. Similar events will take place at the Birkenhead theatre in 2010.

Certainly it was enjoyable to see local actors and writers working together to produce this event.
