CHESHIRE East Council has announced a range of improvements to bus services across Crewe and Nantwich.

The changes, which will come into operation from Monday October 26, will include increased frequency, additional routes and new vehicles with improved disabled access.

Residents of Nantwich, Wrenbury and the surrounding areas will now be able to travel to Market Drayton on Wednesdays following the re-introduction of service 75.

The withdrawn service has returned due to popular demand. Service 32, operating between Crewe and Sandbach, will see increased frequencies whilst service 39 between Nantwich and Crewe will now operate six days a week with a new route that incorporates Cronkinson Farm in Nantwich.

Other routes to benefit from improvements are services 51, 52 and 53 and 72 and 73, which run between Nantwich and Whitchurch.

The Crewe Flexirider, service 42 between Crewe and Congleton and 78 between Nantwich and Alsager will also see changes over the next few months.

All services will benefit from new Cheshire Connect vehicles with low floor accessibility for improved disabled access.

Councillor Jamie Macrae said: “We are delighted to introduce these improvements to bus services across the area, which will allow more residents in Cheshire East to travel around the area in new vehicles with improved disabled access.

“We have worked closely with Bakerbus, GHA Coaches and D & G Buses to ensure that resident’s needs have been met.

"I am especially pleased to see the return of the Nantwich to Market Drayton service, which I know has proven extremely popular in the past.”

A comprehensive booklet detailing all services in the area will be delivered to all households prior to their introduction.
