A RECORD-BREAKING number of students achieved five or more A* to C grades at Verdin High School.

The percentage of students hitting the target rose by nine per cent this year, with 58 per cent earning five or more A* to Cs.

Shining stars included Loren Fox, who achieved three A*s, five As and one B; Christian Cooke who earned fives As, two Bs and two Cs and Olivia Osbourne with two A*s, seven As and one B.

Principle Head Teacher, Martin Howlett, said he was ‘very pleased’ with the results that were ‘just reward for all the hard work, effort and commitment pupils showed to their studies’.

He said: “Verdin prides itself on the support given to our students by a very dedicated team of teachers and support staff who always ensure that students are given every opportunity to succeed.

“The success story has been across the board with 98 per cent of Verdin students achieving a qualification – this figure is well above the national average and is a clear indication that at Verdin every student matters.

“I would like to thank the parents of students in Year 11 for their support of the school and the encouragement given to their children.

“After a very difficult year, we look forward to continuing to develop all aspects of Verdin so that students in Winsford have the first class education that they deserve.’
