A POLICE helicopter was called out after scrambler bikes were ridden dangerously in and around a park.

Officers are appealing for information after the instance of anti-social behaviour involving scrambler bikes in Newton-le-Willows yesterday, Sunday, April 14.
 
At around 2.50pm, received received calls about scrambler bikes being ridden dangerously in and around Mesnes Park.

Officers attended the area to carry out a search, with support by the National Police Air Service (NPAS) helicopter, but the bike riders made off.

Police say inquiries are ongoing.

Community Policing Inspector Stacey Pope said: "This reckless and illegal behaviour causes distress and danger to members of the public enjoying our green spaces. We will act on all information to identify those responsible.
 
"If you know where these bikes are being stored, or were in the area or passing by and captured this incident on CCTV, dashcam or any other devices, please contact us and we will take action to reduce reckless riding from our community."
