PRIDE is returning to Winsford.

The town will host its second Pride event this summer following the success of its inaugural event in 2023.

A day of music and entertainment celebrating diversity and the LGBTQ+ community is promised, with hopes that the event will become a 'fixture' of the town's calendar.

Winsford town mayor, Cllr Ernie Welch, said: “It is good we are celebrating our second Pride event after the great success of last year’s event.

“It is a great opportunity for people to come together and enjoy the day in a safe environment, which will now be a regular annual day in our diary of events.”

Cllr Wayne Fletcher added: “As a council, we want to ensure that Winsford Pride becomes a firm fixture in the town’s events calendar; that it is representative and reflective of what the LGBTQ+ community want, and that it’s celebrated and something that our town can truly be proud of.

“Whilst we aren’t quite able to announce the line-up just yet, all I can say is it will be an event you do not want to miss!”

Winsford hosted its first-ever pride event last September and it proved to be a hit.

Hundreds of LGBTQ+ residents, friends, allies and supporters flocked to the town to enjoy entertainment from X-Factor finalist Sophie Bond, ABBA tribute One More Look, and star of BBC Three’s Glow Up: Britain’s Next Make-Up Star, Kieran Cox.
