A CARELESS driver from Northwich has been hit with a fine and points on his licence after appearing at court.

Richard Norris, of Brakeley Lane, Little Leigh, appeared before magistrates in Chester on March 15 to face a charge for a driving offence.

The court heard the 48-year-old was caught driving a Hyundai i20 without due care and attention along Cogshall Lane near Comberbach on February 15.

Norris pleaded guilty to careless driving and, taking this into account, the bench endorsed his driving licence with five points.

Magistrates also fined him £200 for the offence and ordered him to pay a further  £120 in court costs to the Crown Prosecution Service.

Including an £80 surcharge, Norris' total court bill was £400, which he will start paying in April.
