Dedicated volunteers in the Llanidloes area were thanked for their tireless work helping people in the community during a visit by the High Sheriff of Powys.

High Sheriff Reg Cawthorne was invited by Llanidloes Town Council to visit the area on Thursday, March 7, to see the volunteering work in action that is being carried out by the Leg Club and at the Millennium Garden to support local residents.

David Powell, town council clerk, said: "After an enjoyable hour at the Leg Club in the Van Institute a visit to the Millennium Garden in Llanidloes was completed where volunteers, who keep the garden in excellent condition, were met.

"The Garden Committee are always looking for more helpers so if anyone can spare some time each week then please contact the Town Clerk and your details will be passed on."

People who have made outstanding contributions to any aspect of community life across the county have recently been presented High Sheriff of Powys Awards before the role is passed on to the new High Sheriff later this year.
