THERE were 241 babies born at Leighton Hospital in February 2024 – did you welcome a new arrival?
Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust collates all the baby-related data every month detailing how many babies are born – boys and girls – whether there are any sets of twins or triplets and how babies are delivered.
There are stats for the number of babies born on their due date, before their due date and after their due date as well as the how many new arrivals experienced skin to skin at birth or were breast fed within 48 hours.
There were 241 babies born at Leighton Hospital last month – 53 per cent were girls and 47 per cent were boys.
There were three sets of twins and 85 per cent of babies experienced skin to skin straight after being born with 67 per cent being breast fed within 48 hours.
One baby arrived on their due date, 158 were born before their due date and 82 were late - 32 per cent were induced.
Some 3.3 per cent were home births and 7.8 per cent were water births with 77.2 per cent of babies delivered on the labour ward or in theatre and 18.7 per cent were on the midwife led unit.
Vaginal births accounted for 54.4 per cent with 17 per cent elective caesarean sections and 19.1 per cent emergency caesarean sections.
Some 4.1 per cent were forceps births and 5.4 per cent were ventouse deliveries.
Every month we appeal for your pictures of your new babies.
These babies feature in an online article every month and will also appear in a special supplement at the start of next year.
