A HISTORIC property is to go under the hammer.
The building once home to The Island shop at the junction of Chester Road and Beach Road looks set to be sold.
It had been sat empty for many years and in June 2022 was set on fire, which police believed to have been done deliberately.
Now, it is to be sold at an online auction held by Edward Mellor.
It is understood planning has been approved for three one-bedroom cottages as well as a retail unit complete with a one-bedroom apartment.
The listing reads: “Are you looking for your next development project? Would you want to invest into an area that’s thriving as a community and boasts a train station opposite?

“An ideal project for someone to build out and retain the units to let out which would provide a great return.
“You also have the potential for different projects more suitable to your strategy.”
The online auction takes place on March 6.
