FESTIVAL organisers in Northwich are calling on residents to help make one of the town’s most spectacular events better than ever.
International dance and street arts festival, Now Northwich, returns for the fourth time on Saturday, April 27, for yet another free day and night of outdoor arts shows and participation experiences for every member of the family.
Produced by Dance Cheshire, previous events pulled audiences of more than 25,000 to their shows across the town centre and Barons Quay.
This year’s line-up includes everything from high energy hip hop to martial arts-infused dance, intricate acrobatics, and even an aerial circus on the streets of Northwich.
Volunteers must be aged 18 or over and be available for either part of the day or the whole day on April 27, for shifts allocated between 10am and 10pm.
They should also be able to attend a pre-festival briefing where they’ll learn about the different roles available, including street ambassadors, evaluators, artists’ runners, and production helpers working alongside the main festival team.
Cheshire Dance director, Adam Holloway, said: “Volunteers are key to a successful event. They're ambassador for the town and help visitors to enjoy both the festival programme and Northwich itself.
“They're our eyes and ears on the ground and will support the Cheshire Dance team to ensure all attendees have the absolute best experience.
“Not only will you get to see the festival from the inside, but you will make a difference to your community, meet new people, and certainly have fun.
“Whether you want to deepen your experience of Now Northwich by volunteering with us, or just soak up the atmosphere on the day, there’s going to be so much to see and do for everyone.
“As a festival without barriers, Now Northwich prides itself on welcoming everyone, and particularly those who identify through a protected characteristic.
"We want to ensure festivalgoers have the best experience possible.”
Those who want to play an even bigger part can sign up to the casting call for a special ‘dance opera’ which will see the public join a professional cast of dancers, opera singers, and orchestral musicians on stage.
The deadline to sign up to the casting call closes on Sunday, March 10, with the only requirement being to attend a set of rehearsal dates.
Cheshire West and Chester and Northwich town councillor, Sam Naylor, said: “This really is a fantastic opportunity to get behind the scenes of one of our most popular events and really get involved in doing something great for our community.
