THOUSANDS of people descended on Northwich for the town's spectacular Christmas light switch-on event.

Festive spirit was in bountiful on Saturday (November 25) as the town held its annual Christmas Extravaganza.

Town centre streets were transformed into a winter wonderland, featuring family-friendly activities for everyone to enjoy.

The town's mayor, Cllr Jane Thomas, said: "I was thrilled to witness the magic of the Christmas season come alive in Northwich, as thousands gathered for our annual event.

"The incredible turnout reflects the vibrant spirit of our community and the collective joy that the holiday season brings.

"My heartfelt gratitude goes to the staff and volunteers, and all involved in organising this spectacular event.

The Christmas Extravaganza event was organised by Northwich Town Council and Northwich BID.

Christmas-themed props provided ample photo opportunities alongside free street games and Christmas crazy golf.

One of the highlights of the day however was the enchanting Lantern Parade, led by the captivating rhythms of Batala Mersey.

The procession culminated in a grand finale in Barons Quay, featuring the largest stage ever assembled for this event.

A dazzling display of fireworks provided a spectacular conclusion an unforgettable day of celebration.

Ellis Wardle, chairman of Northwich BID, said: "The Christmas Extravaganza stands as a testament to the collaborative efforts of Northwich Town Council and Northwich BID.

Following a year of successful events, such as the Northwich Piña Colada Festival, and Verdin Park Music Festival, the council and the BID have committed to ensuring the town remains a destination with a difference.
