THOUSANDS of geese have been spotted in the skies above Northwich.
Sandiway resident Ruth Elliott-Smith captured the amazing moment a flock of geese flew over her home in formation on Tuesday afternoon (November 21).
It is believed the birds in the video are pink-footed geese, which spend their winters in the UK.
A spokesperson for Cheshire Wildlife Trust said: "Look out for pink footed geese flying overhead this autumn and winter.
"It’s such a beautiful sight and the noise is even better!"
Every winter, around 360,000 pink-footed geese fly from Greenland and Iceland to spend the winter in the UK.
They are most prevalent in the North West of England, as well as Scotland and East Anglia.
Between October and April they feed on the country's wetland and farmland habitats.
One of the smaller geese, they can be identified by their grey feathers and short, pink bills and pink legs.
The Wildlife Trust say the goose is is also well-known for its 'loud, honking call' that it often performs while flying in a flock, or 'skein', typically in the V-formation.
