YOUNGSTERS at a Northwich nursery have joined thousands across the country in raising money for Children in Need.

Children and Staff at The Abbey Nursery School in Weaverham held a week of fundraising events to show their support for the charity.

The events included teddy bear picnics and bake sales, before the week culminated in a 'SPOTacular Day' on Friday, November 17, where everyone dressed in spots.

So far the nursery has raised more than £105, but its JustGiving page will continue to run for further donations.

A spokeswoman for the nursery said: “We always try and support worthy charities as we believe all children deserve the best start in life.

"By doing events like these not only does it support a worthy charity but it gives the children a learning opportunity to learn about others, how they live, and therefore extending their understanding of the world around them and to see the big smiles on their faces at all the cakes was a joy."

Since 1980, Children in Need has raised more than £1 billion for disadvantaged children and young people in the UK.

This year's appeal raised more than £33.5 million.
