Winsford Christmas Street Festival - where and when

Hundreds are expected to attend the town’s annual Christmas Street Festival, including the festive lights switch-on, which takes place this Friday (November 24).

The festivities get going with the town’s hallmark traditional lantern parade, where local school children process behind musicians with lights they’ve made themselves. 

The procession sets off from the viewing point at Winsford Town Park, on High Street, at 4pm.  

The main event – the festive lights switch-on itself – happens at 6pm. The switch will be thrown by Winsford’s town mayor, Cllr Ernie Welch.

While this is all going on, visitors can enjoy live music, visit Father Christmas in his grotto, do some Christmas shopping at the fantastic market stalls, take a ride on the funfair, and kick back and take in a range of exciting festive street performances.

Cllr Ernie Welch said: “It’s the most wonderful time of the year, as they so wisely say.   

“It’s both a privilege and a pleasure to celebrate Christmas as Winsford’s town major, and the town council has done all it can to make this event as special and as affordable for families as we can.

“The lights stitch-on is a very special moment. It’s when the whole town is invited to come together at Christmas and share in the festive spirit.  

“We hope everyone enjoys our official Christmas lights switch on, and all the other festivities which go along with it.
