THE NIGHT sky was ablaze over Winsford at the weekend for the town’s official Bonfire and Fireworks event.

The annual spectacle on Saturday, November 4, was a huge hit for families from across the town and surrounding areas.

Hundreds gathered at Barton Stadium to watch the spectacular show, provided by award-winning pyrotechnics company, Blitz Fireworks.

Volunteers gathered on Saturday morning in true community spirit to build the enormous bonfire, with much of the wood generously donated by Winsford firm, M&M Pallets.

What’s more, talented musical performances from Winsford Academy students helped bring the whole event to life with their enthusiasm and passion.

Winsford town mayor, Cllr Ernie Welch, said: “It was an absolute pleasure to officially open and attend the Winsford Town Council bonfire at Barton Stadium on Saturday.

“The inclement weather did not deter the lovely Winsford community and there was a great turnout.

“As a community, we’d like to extend our gratitude to Compass Minerals, Deep Store Record Management, Cheshire West and Chester Council, and Europlas for sponsoring this event.

“Their generous support means we can create memorable experiences which bring our community together.”

Oliver Bancroft, head of music at Winsford Academy, said: “I was once again very proud of our students’ brilliant musical performances.

“They never cease to amaze me - the atmosphere was incredible, and truly unforgettable.

“And I thought the fireworks were brilliant, especially at the end.”
