A NORTHWICH man has been banned from the roads after being caught more than twice the drink-drive limit.

Peter Sheldon was travelling along his home street, Rowan Road, in Weaverham, on August 17 when he was caught.

A subsequent breath test revealed the 65-year-old had 87 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of his breath.

The legal limit is 35.

Sheldon appeared at Chester Magistrates Court on September 19 where he pleaded guilty to drink-driving.

Taking his plea into account, magistrates disqualified Sheldon from driving for 20 months and fined him £120.

He was also ordered to pay a further £120 in court costs to the Crown Prosecution Service and a surcharge of £48.
