A WOMAN has been arrested on suspicion of arson.
Emergency services were called to Weaverham last night following reports of a fire which had been started deliberately.
Cheshire Police arrived shortly after 8pm and arrested a 59-year-old woman on suspicion of arson being reckless as to whether life was endangered.
"At 8.10pm on Tuesday September 19 we were called to a deliberate fire at an address in High Street, Weaverham, Northwich," said a police spokesperson.
"Officers attended and a 59-year-old woman was arrested at the address on suspicion with arson recklessly endangering life.
"The woman has since been taken to hospital to be assessed."
Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service sent two crews to the scene, one each from Frodsham and Northwich.
They arrived at around 7.40pm to find a fire in a kitchen.
Firefighters in breathing apparatus used a hose reel jet to put out the flames and a high pressure fan to clear smoke.
An investigation into the cause of the blaze revealed there were "several" seats.
As such, CFRS believed the fire to have been started "deliberately".
