NORTHWICH’S newest church has enjoyed a successful start to life.

Emmanuel Church Leftwich has moved into its new home on Old Hall Road.

The doors swung open last weekend with more than 400 visiting across the three-day launch event including councillors and head teachers from around the area.

Assistant pastor, Dave Hart, said: “We’re thrilled to see the church being used, it’s been a great weekend thanking God for the provision of this place and engaging with so many people – both those we’ve known for years and also new people.”

Emmanuel Church has been in Northwich since 1882 and in Leftwich since 1979.

The church has grown considerably over the last decade which brought about the need to extend and improve their premises.

Work got underway in 2021, with services moving to Leftwich Community Primary School.

The rebuild was complete in August with the official opening weekend getting underway on Friday (September 1).

Several services and open church sessions took place across the weekend, giving the community a chance to look around the building and sample the new café.

Mr Hart continued: "It’s great to have kicked things off with a bang but now we’re looking forward to all the other ways that we can serve our community and make this place a real hub of friendship, love and hope.

“To get a real feel for the church Sunday is definitely the best time to experience what the family is like with a real buzz around the place and people of all ages and backgrounds mixing together.

“There’s also stuff on in the week for everyone – from baby and children’s clubs to seniors’ groups.

“Anyone is welcome regardless of their background or beliefs.”
