GUARDIAN readers have the chance to win free tickets to a theatre showing returning to Winsford.

The Mikron Theatre Company is making its second visit of the year to the town on Friday, September 15, with its new show 'Twitchers – Birds, Birders and the RSPB'.

Sponsored by the Friends of Winsford Town Park, the show will be performed at the Winsford Academy Theatre.

John Malam, chairman of the Friends of Winsford Town Park, said: "Mikron is well known for its shows that focus on British life and characters, and over the years they’ve covered everything from allotments and Butlins to beekeeping and women’s football.

"This new show focuses on the threat to our wildlife and what needs to be done to protect it.

"Set on a nature reserve, we’re introduced to a variety of incredible birds, from raucous rooks to booming bitterns.

"As the Reserve Warden campaigns to protect our feathered friends, we meet bird-watching enthusiasts – twitchers – who hear her rallying cry. And set against all this, we discover the story of the RSPB.

"The cast of four play multiple roles, and never leave the stage – a change of hat or coat transforms an actor into a different character.

"The audience sees the changeover, and is whisked along with it, as the story unfolds in Mikron’s trademark fast-paced style of humour, song, and a sprinkling of facts.

"It’s live, professional theatre at its best and the audience will be in for a treat."

The Friends of Winsford Town Park are delighted to offer Guardian readers a chance to win tickets to see the show, with two tickets up for grabs.
