A BRAND-new musical theatre extravaganza show is coming to Northwich Memorial Hall in October for just a single night.

Dreamcoat Stars features only singers who’ve played Joseph in a production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, and includes new vocal arrangement of classic songs, as well as stories from the stars’ time in the well-known role.

The show promises powerful star vocals in a musical evening of West End and Broadway classics, from shows including Joseph, Jesus Christ Superstar, Phantom of the Opera, Mama Mia, We Will Rock You, SIX, Wicked, Moulin Rouge, Les Misérables, and more.

Producers also recruit a backing cast from a local stage school in each town they visit, which for the Memorial Court date, will be Stagecoach Performing Arts, Northwich.

The tour also stars the longest ever reigning Joseph, Mike Holoway, having first played the titular role at age 19 before appearing in the West End and UK tours over a 24-year period, totting up a staggering 4,000 performances.

Mike said: “Our first 64-date tour went down incredibly well. You only have to look the Facebook page to see some of the wonderful comments.

“I have to say, I was overwhelmed with the response.

“We put our own spin, as a four-part harmony powerhouse, on some of the classics. We also do individual solos.

“It all culminates in the four big numbers from Joseph, which we all perform together, and we always have a local choir join us for that section every night.

Mike is an old hand in the theatre, having first performed at the London Palladium age nine with Edward Woodward in a production of Babes in the Wood in 1972.

He added: “I’ve played Joseph from 1982 to 2006 in all sorts of tours and production.

“I’ve got so many stories to tell, which is very much a part of Dreamcoat Stars. That’s a part of what makes it unique.

“It’s amazing. We’ve had people in the audience who were actually at productions I’ve starred in and can relate to the stories I tell. They were actually there.

“Honestly, it’s just wonderful.”

Dreamcoat Stars is at Northwich Memorial Court on Friday, October 27, at 7.30pm.
