NORTHWICH’S business community pulled out all the stops last week to give a poorly little boy a sixth birthday party he'll never forget.

Ollie Jackson, from Rudheath, was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia, a form of blood cancer, in October 2022.

His treatment at the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital, which includes intense chemotherapy and bonemarrow treatment, could last up to three-and-a-half years, according to his doting nan, Michelle Dickson.

Michelle was ‘overwhelmed’ with offers of free help from party businesses across Northwich after putting a post on Facebook looking for advice on throwing a circus-themed bash for her grandson.

A total of 14 businesses responded, along with a fraternity of bikers, and the party went ahead on Sunday, August 13, at Rudheath Social Club.

According to Michelle, Ollie hasn’t been able to talk about anything else since.

“It was all absolutely amazing”, she added.

"Northwich did him so proud. It was really one to remember.

“Ollie absolutely loved everything. Chris the magician was terrific, the food from Vinnie’s was amazing, and Megan the photographer was incredible.

“All sort of lovely things have come of it. Some of the performers have offered to go along and do a free fun day for the Joshua Tree.

“Ollie has not stopped talking about it since Sunday.

“We brought some of the balloon arches home with us, and he’s still playing with them.

“I also want to say a massive thank you to Ali Young for organising the bikers who showed up too.

"They let all the kids sit on the motorbikes and have pictures, and they called their day ‘Ollie’s Ride’."

Michelle, Ollie and family would like to offer special thanks to the following: Penny at Vinnies Northwich, buffet; Steve Parry, DJ; Ali Young at Ben’s Bouncers; Jordan King of Rise and Sparkle Occasions, balloon stylist; Siobhan’s Creations, balloon stylist; Martin James Decorating Services and Bespoke Panels, for circus themed panels; Rachel Rathbone, stilt walker.

They would also like to thank Arche de Noè & Co, circus props; Megan Smith, photographer, MV Photography; Ella Clarke, for the birthday cake; Kevin Woodward, circus skills; All In Play, sensory play; Deanne Crick, balloon animals; Christopher Hickey, magician.

Michelle added: “Ollie’s had a really rough time since October, but he’s also been a really big hero.

“It was such a wonderful day. I really can't thank everyone enough.”
