HOME Bargains has revealed the opening date of its latest branch in Cheshire.

The discount retailer will arrive in Middlewich later this year, taking over the former Jack’s store off Wheelock Street.

It has now been confirmed that Home Bargains will open on Saturday, September 16.

A spokesperson for the chain said: “Home Bargains is delighted to be opening our first store in the Middlewich area on September 16, 2023.

“Opening on the site of the former Jack’s store, the completed refurbishment will see the store being over 16,000 sq ft in size and filled with our extensive range of products and our famous top brands at bottom prices.

“Our valued customers can expect a full range of household products, toiletries, groceries, and a wide selection of chilled and frozen foods.

“As part of the opening, we are looking to recruit over 50 colleagues, with all job roles available on our website, at https://jobs.homebargains.co.uk/.

“We can't wait to open our doors and show our loyal customers and new shoppers what we have in store, and we're confident our new Middlewich store will be a huge success."

Plans for the new Home Bargains were given the green light by Cheshire East Council earlier this year.

It comes after Jack’s was closed last year, with Tesco announcing it was scrapping the discount brand it launched in 2018.

The plans were largely welcomed by Middlewich Town Council and residents, apart from one objection which stated the site would be “better suited for an artisan market”.

Included in the plans was the installation of a new shop front, a reconfiguration of the existing car park, the creation of an external display, and a general refurbishment of the store.

One member of public, welcoming the plan, said: “Absolutely support this - the quicker the better.”

Another said: “They have my full support in any developments that take place.”

“The refurbishment of this store is greatly welcomed by many residents of Middlewich,” added another member of the public.
