AN EastEnders star is set to take to the stage in Northwich.

Cheryl Fergison, best known for her role as Heather Trott in the long running soap, headlines the cast of Mum’s the Word, a comedy sketch show coming to Northwich Memorial Court.

The 57-year-old, who more recently played a fictionalised version of herself in Catherine Tate’s Netflix mockumentary Hard Cell, can’t wait to come to Cheshire but admits she can’t remember if she has performed here before.

She said: “I feel like I have been to Northwich before, I definitely think I’ve been there at some point.

“In this industry you go to every theatre in the land and it’s only at a certain point that it clicks and you remember, ‘oh yes I’ve performed here before’.”

Cheryl continued: “It’s really good coming to places like Northwich where you can meet people who have supported you for so many years.

“It’s great doing big venues, there’s nothing like it. But I love the intimacy of playing these smaller venues, you feel like you can look right into the eyes of the audience.

“It brings me back to my roots and makes the whole show feel more relatable.”

“I’m so lucky, blessed, that people still want to see me do things in the flesh,” Cheryl added.

“People often ask me, are you still acting? Do you ask a plumber if they still plumb?

“Just because I’m not on the telly four or five times a week doesn’t mean I’ve stopped acting.

“Lots of people will still say ‘you’re Heather' but I am getting more and more people saying ‘I saw you in Catherine Tate’s new show’ or ‘I saw you in Menopause the Musical’.”

Following a successful tour in 2022, Mum’s the Word returns this autumn.

Joined by actresses Sarita Plowman and Poppy Tierney, Cheryl and her fellow mums will take audiences on an emotional journey through the ups and downs of motherhood.

The show will feature a mix of comical sketches and heartwarming but embarrassing stories, from leaving the house without a bra to shedding tears in a supermarket for no apparent reason.

Producer Anna Anikeyeva, herself a new mum, says she feels an overwhelming sense of emotion and gratitude towards the show.

She added: "As a new mum, this show has left me filled with joy and a sense of camaraderie.

“It is everything I didn't know me and my new mum friends needed."

The Mum’s the Word 2023 tour arrives in Northwich on Thursday, October 26, with doors opening at 7pm ahead of a 7.30pm start time.

Tickets are on sale now on the Brio Entertainment website, priced at £26.
