IT’S alive! A theatre group will be bringing a production of Young Frankenstein to the stage later this month.

The Vale Royal Musical Theatre group is putting on three performances of the Mel Brooks musical between July 13 and July 15.

Audrey Mellor is a member of the theatre group, and says they 'picked this play because it’s a little bit of something different'.

The 55-year-old said: “This play has not really been done, it's only just available.

"We started work in about December and have had rehearsals every Monday, plus extra ones as we got closer.

“It’s a really funny satirical musical, plus we’ve got an orchestra!”

Starring Ben Evans-Clarke as Young Frankenstein, the play will be performed at Northwich Memorial Court, with tickets available now.

The musical theatre group, based in Winsford, has performed a number of musicals in Northwich, including a great performance of '9 to 5' in 2018.

Young Frankenstein is a satirical comedy, based on the 1974 film directed by and starring Mel Brooks.

The story is a parody of the various film adaptations of Frankenstein, following ‘Dr. Frederick Frankenstein’, the grandson of infamous mad scientist Victor.
