WITH schools almost out for the summer, parents across Cheshire will be looking for events to get the whole family out the house.

Luckily for those parents looking for something to do and have a fun day in the summer sun, we've rounded up some of the best events going on in the county this summer.

Ranging from riverside productions, ice cream farms, and locomotive treats for train enthusiasts, there is something for everyone to enjoy.

Krazy Races

Northwich Guardian:

Fans of Red Bull’s soap box races, or simply people who enjoy laughing at the failure of others, will love coming down to see Krazy Races.

The Northwich soap box race brought down more than 15,000 people to see the event last June, so huge crowds are expected for the event.

With prizes for not only the fastest teams, but best dressed, best design and much more, the track of more than 350m with chicanes, obstacles, and water, will be sight to see on a brilliant day out.

Takes place on Sunday, July 16.

FamilyFest in Knutsford

This new event is coming to Knutsford on Saturday, August 5.

A free family day-out in the heart of the town, why not come along and enjoy plenty of activities including face painting, hair braiding and arts and crafts and a whole lot more.

There is even story time for those much-needed quieter moments.

The Ice Cream Farm

‘The Ice Cream Farm’ is already one of Cheshire’s most popular days out for the summer holidays, with the hot sunny days perfectly complimented by a whole ice-cream themed attraction.

This popularity is sure to only increase with The Ice Cream Farm’s school’s out party on July 21, as well as a brand-new escape room opening this month at the Chester farm.

Cheshire Steam Fair

The yearly event in Daresbury returns once again this July, taking place over the weekend of July 8.

For train enthusiasts, this is the must-attend event of the summer, with live performances taking place all weekend.

A full programme of top steam fair attractions including: steam engines, classic cars, vintage tractors, classic motorcycles, and much more.

RHS Flower Show

The RHS Flower Show at Tatton Park is set to be a four-day event to remember, with beautiful gardens and gorgeous blooms.

Taking place from July 19 to July 23, the event will include botanical and flower shows, as well as various competitions.

The event will also see the launch of a new Neighbourhood Garden at Tatton Park.

Meet the Grubbles at BeWILDerwood

BeWILDerwood is back, with a brand-new story to hear, with the Grubbles visiting.

For those who want to get their kids out and about in nature, BeWILDerwood is a perfect day out, with all the stories being told in a forest with ‘magical’ scenery all around.

Don't go into the water at Chester Zoo

No need to pack a costume to dive into Planet Shark: Predator or Prey.

The essential role of the much-maligned sharks can be appreciated on dry land, because it's told through underwater projections of sharks in motion, life-size models, and collections of teeth, jaws and rare fossilised remains.

Crowfest

Northwich Guardian:

Crowfest is a great free summer day out, with a peculiar dance troupe at the centre of it.

The Moulton Crow Fair on July 8 will see various stalls, Morris dancing, a tug of war competition, and a performance by the ‘famous’ Moulton Crow’s dance, the finale of the day.

This will be followed up in the evening by Crowfest, a free to attend musical festival with local acts performing.

The Wind in the Willows

Storyhouse in Chester are bringing an enchanting walkabout production of The Wind in the Willows, with Ratty, Mole, Badger, and Toad leading the way.

Little ones aged five and under are encouraged to head to Chester’s Grosvenor Park to join in the animal friends' adventure, taking place between July 8 to August 20.

Travel through time in Chester
Youngsters can stop a mysterious society lock Chester in a pocket in time by hunting for a secret password on the Time Travelling Treasure Hunt along Chester's famous Rows.

Meanwhile, older visitors can tune in to the free Discover The Rows self-guided audio tour to delve into the history of these extraordinary buildings.

Play, Everyday at Dunham Massey
