A DRIVER has been banned from the roads for three years after being caught behind the wheel while over the drug limit.

Paul Curbishley, of Birch Grove, Wincham, was travelling along the A556 at Bowden on June 21 last year when he was caught.

A subsequent blood test revealed the 45-year-old had more than 800ug/L of Benzoylecognine - a breakdown product of cocaine - in his system. The legal limit is 50ug/L.

On April 13, Curbishley appeared at Crewe Magistrates Court, charged with drug driving, where he changed his plea to guilty.

Taking his plea into account, the bench disqualified Curbishley from driving for 36 months and fined him £180.

Due to the late change in plea, magistrates ordered him to pay £1,500 in court costs to the Crown Prosecution Service and a surcharge of £72.
